Have you ever tried Foundation-Piecing?  It just can't be beat to achieve perfect points and funky angles!  If you've never tried it before - here's a tutorial that you can download.  Don't be intimidated by the number of pages - my aim is to hold your hand through the piecing of one small block.  The steps keep repeating, but once you get it - you'll be hooked!

The only tool you'll probably need to buy (a good excuse to visit your local quilt shop!) is an "Add-A-Quarter" Ruler.  There is a 6" and 12" size.  Unless you get crazy addicted - the 6" size is fine for most projects.
